Introduction

You may think downloading JDeveloper from Oracle’s Official Site is good enough to start your
SOA Suite Development Journey, actually it’s not :-(. In case you would like to kick start your
Oracle Fusion Middleware project as an SOA Suite Developer you perform the below steps.

Pre-Requisite

Local Directory Setup

Create below Directories in your local PC. Ensure the path of the directory does not contain any spaces.

For windows operating system

  • C:\dev\OracleSOASuite
  • C:\dev\OracleSOASuite\soa-12c
  • C:\Oracle

For Mac/Unix  operating system, you can substitute home with the location as your local directory setup

  • \<home>\dev\OracleSOASuite
  • \<home>\OracleSOASuite\soa-12c
  • \<home>\Oracle

    An Oracle Account

    • create-account
    • Oracle account provides access to download all oracle software such as JDK and other Oracle Software and Tools.

    System Admin Access

    • Note: If you are in a corporate environment where there is a limitation on the installation of software and tool of your own choice.
    • JDK Installation jdk1.8.0_241

      • Download Site: javase-jdk8-downloads Or
      • S:\Programmes\FPIM Programme\80_Software\jdk\ jdk-8u241-windows-x64.exe
      • Note: JDK: Java Development Kit not JRE: Java Runtime Environment

       

      Configuration of JDK
      • Set Up JAVA_HOME System Variable
      • This PC->Properties -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables ->System Varaibles ->
      • New
      • JAVA_HOME : <<>> eg: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_241 , click OK
      Configure Path Variable
      • This PC->Properties -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables ->System Varaibles ->
      • Click on Path
      • Click on New and add %JAVA_HOME%\bin
      • OK
      Set JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS
      • Note: This is an additional step due to the issue https://community.oracle.com/thread/4299399
        • This PC->Properties -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables ->System Varaibles ->
        • New
        • JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS: -Djdk.lang.Process.allowAmbiguousCommands=true
        • click OK
        • Otherwise through command prompt:
        • set JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS=-Djdk.lang.Process.allowAmbiguousCommands=true

          Download

          Site Location: Oracle SOA Suite Binaries

          There will be six packages to be downloaded. For Oracle SOA Suite below two need to be downloaded.

          • Oracle SOA Suite
            1. V983385-01_1of2
            2. V983385-01_2of2
          • The download happens via Oracle Download Manager. You can specify the path C:\dev\OracleSOASuite as your download location.
          • Extract / Unzip the downloads eg. C:\dev\OracleSOASuite\soa-12c

           

          Installation

          During this process the SOA Suite packages downloaded and extracted will be installed to the C:\Oracle.

           

          • Start Command Prompt or Terminal as an Administrator.
          • Go to your JDK installation directory. Eg. cd C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_241\bin
          • Run
          • java -jar C:\dev\OracleSOASuite\soa-12c\fmw_12.2.1.4.0_soa_quickstart.jar
          • The installation will start through

          • Provide Installation Location as C:\Oracle
          • The rest of the process will be just verification and validations, click “Next” and watch the installation logs, upon successful installation, C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\jdeveloper\ jdeveloper.exe will be created.
          • Right-click on the C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home\jdeveloper\ jdeveloper.exe and mark as “Pin to Start”

          WebLogic Server Configuration

          Setup Oracle Home

          • Set Up ORACLE_HOME System Variable
          • This PC->Properties -> Advanced system settings -> Environment Variables ->System Varaibles ->
          • New
          • ORACLE_HOME : <<>> eg: C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_Home, click OK

          Start JDeveloper

          cd ORACLE_HOME\jdeveloper jdev.exe

          Start WebLogic

          Start the Integrated WebLogic Server by selecting Run from the top menu bar, then Start Server Instance

          Configuration

          Administrator ID: weblogic

          Password: password01

          Confirm Password: password01

          Listen Address: 127.0.0.1

          Listen Address: 7101

          SSL Listen Port: 7102

          Weblogic JDev Configuration

          WebLogic Admin Console
